GOOD BYE…

Hello Fellow Xangans!

This will be my LAST post on this Xanga page.  I started a new page a few months ago and have decided that the time has arrived to discontinue utilizing this page.  Please give me some time to re-add everyone to the new page.  For some quick and dirty updates, feel free to check out my Quick and Dirty Blogs at Freewebs.com.  If you’re an advent reader of my blogs, you might enjoy this site more since it’s updated more frequently albeit not as revealing/detailed.

Goodness, life has been intense.  I can’t even begin to express how incredibly busy I’ve been.  I’m not even kidding when I say I barely have time to sit.  Work, school, and building my clientele have taken up the majority of my time.  ECFE, church, the ministry, working out whenever possible, and whatever time I could salvage to spend with family take up the rest, which leaves me with no time whatsoever for anything else.  There is so much to do in so little time, and I go through so many moments of questioning my ability: whether I’m taking on too much, trying too hard, or making the right decisions.  However, regardless of any uncertainties, I brazen the challenges and continue marching on with nothing more than faith to help me approach life with a sense of possibility rather than helplessly foreboding what is unforeseen.  Faith has dared me to imagine what I might be capable of, enabling me to reach for what I don't yet know with a diminutive measure of courage and has given me resilience in times of difficulty.  Faith has taught me that whatever hardships and failures I endure, I can try again.

The past couple of months contained many nerve-racking moments.  As of mid last year, there have been so many life changing events.  For those who don’t already know, we moved into a new home, pulled out of the entertainment business earlier than expected, declined some business propositions, successfully joined the insurance industry, became an official member of Living Word Christian Center, went full-forced into serving the ministry, enrolled my family into the ECFE program, hauled my butt back into school (a private Christian college – 14 credits), recommenced a fitness routine, and will be reactivating my real estate license next week… all while being a devoted and attendant wife and mother.  Needless to say, the arduous schedule and bumpy transitions have been emotionally, physically, and financially draining, but I’m happy to announce that through all of this, I’ve survived and doing well.  Don’t ask how I’ve managed—I’m still in awe myself.  Truth be told, I don’t sleep!

Thank you everyone for all the great memories along the way and for your wonderful friendships.  Until we meet again (on the private page =P), have a fabulous weekend and be blessed.  *kisses*

Noah - Random

My baby Noah (his daddy styled his hair).  I can't believe he'll be ONE in less than 2 weeks.  He's getting so big (and chunky)his grandma needs to stop feeding him so much.  Everyone tells me Noah looks Asian/Caucasian mix (due to his very light skin tone).

Two Words

Odd, I've never watched three movies in one week before, but I did, and it feels great. =P   I have two words for each movie that I saw.   I'd give you a review but I have to go now so maybe another time (or not).  Guess what today is?  Oh, I'll just blog about it another time.  Have blessed day.

2009, Time to Celebrate

Like what is there to celebrate, right?  Considering the economy is in recession and so many people have lost their jobs and homes.  Well, I say there’s a lot to celebrate—take the low gas prices for one.     Okay seriously now—not that the low gas prices hasn’t been a reason to celebrate—it’s just that I’d rather be optimistic than sit here and get distressed about all the negativity, because that’ll do nothing but compel me to jump off a bridge (hypothetically speaking).  Therefore, it’s best to prohibit myself from reading/watching the copious news/reports and instead put my faith and trust in God that He’ll pull us through.  Certainly, even I’ve been impacted by all of this (like you wouldn’t believe).  However, when times were tough, I reminded myself of all the wonderful things that I have in life to give me strength (e.g., a job, a roof over my head, an immediate family that’s all here, the best in-laws a girl can ask for, three handsome, healthy, and happy boys, and a marriage that’s still intact to name a few).   So yes, there is a reason to celebrate.  Anyway, instead of going into a tedious and lame update, here are some random pictures that we took over the month of December as promised.  Enjoy!

At the Women on Boards event, I felt so minute in a room filled with Executive Directors, C-level Officers, VPs, CEOs, etc.—all women too.

HOPE, the Christmas show at Living Word was spectacular.

My baby niece, Rosalee, is the cutest little baby model ever, but don’t be fooled, she’s a bully. More will be posted at http://www.flickr.com/julieyang76.

As part of the Operation Outreach team, Jay and I are volunteers with the Angel Food Ministry, which is a food program dedicated to providing monthly food assistance to 500,000 families in 35 states across America.  You get great quality food for a good deal, even I bought a box.  Contact me for more info.

Unfortunately, we left early because it was too C-O-L-D.  On the ground, non-perishables that we brought for the food train.

Christmas this year was AWESOME.  We hosted our first family Christmas dinner at my parents’ house, my dear mother cried again, we sang happy birthday to Jesus, stuffed ourselves with delicious cuisine, made a massive mess from opening gifts, watched Kookie go on a treasure hunt to find her present from Steven, and then came home and spent 2 hours taking presents out, putting them together, and cleaning up.  Ahh… it’s great to have such a wonderful (and huge) family.

Steven’s gift to my parents—an all inclusive all paid cruise—and the boy isn’t even married to my sister yet!  More than half of the family is going except for those of us that are too poor and can’t get away from work/school. *weep-weep*

On my desk, sits a frame displaying my three handsome boys.  Kenji came out of Kinder Church wearing that golden wreath on his head, so I kept it and put it on the frame. =)  Every time I look at this frame, I smile.

Jay and I took a nice drive through the Holiday Lights in the Park at Phalen Lake.  The array of holiday lights and animated displays were delightful to see.

The boys came home one evening to find that Santa dropped off 20 MORE presents, so they got a SECOND Christmas. =D  Truth be told, the second round of gifts were from the in-laws and from us (because the presents I ordered online arrived late!).

Toys… toys… and more TOYS (plus clothes, books, movies, etc).  Another two hours of taking them out, putting them together, and cleaning up.  What can I say?  For at the end of the day, they are still kids, therefore, whatever makes them HAPPY is a-okay with me.

Kenji and Raj say grace at every meal.  It is just the cutest thing!

Our family and friends were calling us from left to right; everybody was at some venue getting inebriated and having a great time except for Jay and me, we decided to stay home and ring in the new year with our boys.  *kiss-kiss*
lunapic-123082102668177

That’s all for now folks.  Today’s the first day of the new year and I’ll be spending my entire day completing a 12-hr online course. Blah!  Other than that, I’m excited about a lot of things that are in the works this year. *BIG grin*  Anyway, I have to go wake up the family now.  So, until the next blog, have a happy, healthy, and blessed New Year.

Playing Catch-Up

It’s Saturday night and everybody (but me) is out partying like rock stars for Steven’s bday.  The house was just packed a couple of minutes ago with people doing their pre-drinking, but most have left to Stargate now.  Given that I don't care for nightclubs—as I find them to be breeding grounds for drama—I opted to stay home.  The kids are at my parents’ house.  I wanted to pick them up, but since my brothers are "kicking" it here for a while, I’ll give it another hour and then decide if I should pick them up or let them sleep over.  Boy, I’m going to have a big mess to clean up tomorrow.  I just hope nobody vomits on my rugs.  Steven Thao (aka Noah’s Godfather), you owe me one!

I should really be getting some work in, but for the past hour or so I’ve been looking through the millions of photos that I’ve taken in the past few months and decided I’ll share some with you guys—these were taken in the month of November.  I’ll be back in a few days to post all the wonderful pictures from this month and Christmas.  Speaking of Christmas, I hope you all had a fabulous Christmas because I sure did.  After all, how could anyone not have a wonderful Christmas when they have the best family in the world like mine?  The older we get, the closer we become and hanging out like a bunch of best friends.  I’ve been so blessed.  Enjoy.

My beautiful friend Kia and her husband Eric were married on the gorgeous Turk Islands.  I didn’t make it to the wedding, but the portraits revealed an enchanting and breathtaking ceremony. *tear*

My son Kenji turned the big FOUR.  His bday week consisted of: 1) Bday celebration with the kiddies at Chucky Cheeses 2) Bday celebration with family, friends, and tons of presents at grandma’s house and 3) Holding his expensive gift (a shipoo puppy) from his favorite uncle Leo after driving more than 3 hrs total to pick it up.

What a waste!  Bought four of these pet hermit crabs for Kenji and Raj and they died within weeks.  One of them amputated its own limbs.  WTH?!!

As part of LIA-AF, I felt obligated to attend the Hmong New Year despite my usual avoidance because of the heavy congestion.  Our booth was giving out free bags and balls.

Finally felt better on the last evening of the New Year—all smiles.

You know you’re getting OLD when you’re attending way too many of these parties and LOVING it.  Mind you, these are banquets/fundraisers only.  =P =D

That’s all for now folks.  Have a blessed weekend!  Wow, my baby sister is growing up to look so much like me, but I look better of course.  Kidding. =P
